I was born and raised in Portage Park, Chicago. I love working in this city.
I passed my tests in 2020 to earn my certifications, but that was far from the end of my educational journey. I continue to learn from the conferences I attend and the NCRA newsletter I recieve, as well as from the court reporting community at large.
Since my graduation, I've been able to work with a wide variety of people, from law firms to national court reporting agencies as a court reporter, to classrooms and religious services as a captioner. I find both areas of work fulfilling. I take pride in serving my community in this way.
I really enjoy learning new briefs and more efficient ways to type. For example, one great brief I learned from one of my mentors is "KL*EFD", which translates to "clear and convincing evidence". I find my job really cool in that I can be in so many different spaces each week, and there are always new ways to continue to grow and improve.
Last year, I joined the Illinois Court Reporting Association (ILCRA) Board as the Secretary, which I'm really proud of. Being involved with fellow stenographers is important to me, and it helps me stay up to date on best practices and current events.
